Back to the Future

I noticed yesterday that a few of the regular tweeps were getting a bit hot and bothered by Riccardo Ricco’s comments that (from memory so excuse paraphrasing) “Once I start winning again all this (presumably doping) stuff will be forgotten”. Mention was also made of the fact that my old mate Alessandro V was still racing. Except ,of course, in Italy.
My take? I think the talk of the handing of the baton to a new, cleaner, generation that’s been the mantra of the last couple of years is premature. Many areas of our sport are still fundamentally dirty. Things are changing. Clean riders are racing, but there’s a long way to go.
Of course, it goes without saying that Ricco is a t**t of the first order. Valverde? Don’t get me started!
Far more importantly I’ve been off the bike all week with me bad back guv. However, it’s starting to feel better so I have high hopes for next week.;o)
Jan V’s thinly veiled accusations of slacking it after I posted last week have made me keen to get back on track.
Anyhoo, got to go. Them Crooked Vultures live beckons!

  • OK, this is my 'personal' opinion. It doesn't reflect the views of the Vcast etc, etc.
Yes, I'm of the opinion there are a number of teams who still operate "support" programs for their riders. There are also riders operating on their own with "specialist" doctors.
However, innocent until proven guilty eh? ;oS

"Many areas of our sport are still fundamentally dirty" - I find the hubs, rims and cassette to be particularly bad areas.

All joking aside- do you think there might be teams with doping programmes, or teams who support riders that they know to be doping?

Or is it just individuals working with 'specialist doctors'?
