  • Thanks for the link in the show notes to my post about the retro “American Flyers” Saxo Bank Tarmacs. While I agree that American Flyers is a truly terrible movie, it is worth watching just for the comic value of that big hairy Russian dude on a bike. He is probably the only guy on the planet who looks less like a cyclist than Kevin Costner. Eddy Merckx makes a cameo in the movie too…though I am not sure why.

I enjoyed your discussion about mechanical doping. I posted recently about Cytronex bikes, which use small, lightweight NiMH batteries and have a throttle for an occasional punch when needed. I was thinking about that post on Monday as I was suffering in a race with a steep mountain top finish. I could barely turn over the pedals on some of those grades and the thought crossed my mind a few times. If only I had a little boost button on the handlebars…nobody would know.

Great show yet again. Throughly enjoyed and agreed with your take on the Strade Bianchi stage of the Giro. I also agree with the TOC folks being Nacey's for not broadcasting in the rain. However, as a Yank I must take issue with your slightly hidden shot at the "Super Power" not being able to show TV in the rain. I would like to point out that quite a big deal was make of the fact that ASO brought over their motos and cameramen directly from France to cover broadcast duties. I think they just surrendered due to a little rain! ;-) Although, most likely it was some sissy safety rule about flying choppers in the rain. Keep up the good work!
  • Oh man, that is SUCH an American response; blame the French! ;-) Only joking and thanks for listening to the show.

Howdy Guys! Great cast as always. I am really liking this daily show you guys have had the past couple days. I think the daily show should continue...you guys have nothing else to do right? ;)

One thing I didn't hear mentioned was whether or not you guys thought Vino and Cadel are out of contention now. It seems to me with that brutal last week still in the path of the riders, losing 12 minutes would be easy on any one of those days.

Also, thanks for taking a moment out to give your insight on my forum question (http://bit.ly/aDeFfW) regarding Stage 3 of the ATOC and the attack on the ever vicious named "Bonny Doon" climb. I enjoyed hearing what you had to think. BTW, Paul Sherwin was mentioning that the Bonny Doon climb is named after the winery that sits on top or is near the climb.
  • Looking forward to the special edition tonight ;)
  • Great commentary on the Giro, & totally agree about Evans, he's ridden a champion's season in the rainbow jersey so far, so much so that I *really* wished he'd made the gap in yesterday's stage.

And Cipo - Garmin a big budget team? Since when? Fourth smallest budget on the pro-tour, according to Vaughters last season.

Re: Road Painting. The Livestrong chalk wasn't popular with riders, apparently, created clouds of choking dust on some stages.

Great show again chaps, will keep checking for the jersey pre-order link - any word on the caps yet?
  • Good cast lads, I take it this was made before the news of Landis lobbing cat grenades amongst a few fat pigeons.
  • Hi Stephen,

Yes, recorded and published before we knew about Landisgate (as it seems we are duty bound to call it!) We're recording a special edition of the show tonight to discuss its' implications.

    Thanks for the kind comment.

    Scott.
  • Oh good, I'll look forward to that.
